Great news for independent authors.

VAT has been scrapped on virtual publications (ebooks, but also newspaper subscriptions and suchlike) in the UK. It was scheduled anyway, to bring the ebook VAT legislation into line with the print book zero rate, but has been brought forward from October as a result of the Covid-19 crisis. That old adage about clouds and silver linings is a bit trite, considering some people have lost their lives, but one small positive in a sea of uncertainty.
